We'll be doing our best CATS when the Kickstarter reaches $94K.

The 4th of Julivestream!
over 7 years ago – Wed, Jul 11, 2018 at 04:45:26 PM

So we're a little over half-way through the Kickstarter campaign, and we've raised over $80K for 'The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals' so far! This is incredible, and it's all thanks to you! You're making this show possible, and by raising that budget total you're helping to improve the production quality immensely! Remember, the more we raise, the better the show can be (the more we can pay the cast & crew, the more we can invest in technical elements & recording the show/album, all that jazz). Usually a StarKid show costs upwards of $120K, so let's see if we can double that initial Kickstarter goal, and get the grand total to $120K by the end of the campaign!!!

To help us get there, we'll continue setting stretch goals that will allow you to unlock fun videos and rewards as you inch that total higher and higher. Expect to hear more about what you'll be able to unlock in the coming days!

AND in the meantime, let's have another livestream! This one will be on Wednesday the 4th, 11am to 3pm (PST). So four hours of fun, games, Q&A, updates, and challenges! It'll be during the day in the USA, so all of us yanks can watch some fireworks afterwards (and celebrate what's sure to be the last year of our country before it completely falls apart). Hopefully this'll also be a timeframe that's a bit kinder to our friends on the other side of the world!

So get your questions/song requests/Quiplash-playing-devices ready, and join us on Wednesday for what's sure to be one hell of a good time!

STRETCH GOALS! Musicals... To The Best Of Our Recollection
over 7 years ago – Tue, Jul 10, 2018 at 08:56:38 PM

Hi everybody! Hope you're all having a great July thus far! Thanks to everyone who joined us for the 'Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals 4th of Julivestream' yesterday! If you didn't get a chance to tune in live, you can check out the whole stream on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzchSFq6y3U

We'll be doing one more BIG livestream at the very end of the Kickstarter campaign, so stay tuned for more information on that in the coming week.

And speaking of the end of the campaign, we're in our last ten days! We've already surpassed our initial KS goal by over $25K! That's amazing, and it's all thanks to you! BUT let's not stop there. The more money we raise, the better this production can be! A typical StarKid show costs upwards of $120K, so it would be a dream to hit that number by July 15th (the end of the Kickstarter). To help get us there, let's talk STRETCH GOALS!

Rather than listing off the details of how the budget will change depending on how much money we raise (for example, if we raise $100K we'll be able to spend $5K on the set instead of $2K), we're going to set fundraising goals and let YOU ALL unlock fun stuff! We've got special videos, short films, casting announcements, and more to unlock! To kick things off, we've got a really funny series of videos called 'Musicals... To The Best Of Our Recollection,' where we enact famous musicals to the best of our recollection. As we meet goals on Kickstarter, these episodes will be released on YouTube for all to enjoy. Take a look at the funding goals and which musicals we'll be enacting below:

At the time of writing this update, we're at $85,197 with 2,474 backers. That means that even if we don't get ANY new backers, if everyone ups their pledge by just $6, we'll hit $100K NO PROBLEM!

ALSO very soon we'll be announcing some fun ADD-ONS (items that you can add onto your Kickstarter reward package without upping your pledge tier; things like t-shirts, pins, etc). We'll also be telling you about a contest in which you'll have the chance to get a character in the show named after you!!!

So stay tuned for more information, THANK YOU for everything thus far, and let's see how many of these stretch goals we can meet!!!

Another Weekend Giveaway! AVPM Themed WEREWOLF!!!
almost 8 years ago – Fri, Jun 29, 2018 at 11:18:59 AM

We're just about two weeks (half-way) into the Kickstarter campaign, and the 'Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals' total is already up to about $74K! That's awesome! You're not only making this show possible, you're helping it be the best it can be! Remember, the more money we raise, the more we have to pay the cast & crew AND the more we have to invest in higher production value all around! So let's keep going and see how high we can get that total!

NOW we've got a challenge AND a reward for you this weekend! If we get the KS total up to $78K by midnight on Sunday (night of July 1st/morn of the 2nd, PST), we'll give every Kickstarter backer (up until then) a digital download art packet so you can make your own 'A Very Potter Musical' Themed Version of the card game Werewolf!

This will include anyone who has backed the project already, and anyone who backs by Sunday at midnight (PST). But it'll only happen if that total reaches $78K by then, so if you haven't backed the project yet, now's a great time. OR if you have backed already, maybe up your pledge just a smidge? If all the KS backers right now upped their pledge by a measly $2, we'd hit that goal no problem! A download link to the digital art packet will be sent out after the Kickstarter campaign has ended in July. Print it out, cut it out, and you got yourself a copy of 'Very Potter' themed Werewolf!

For those of you who tuned into StarKid's 'A Very Potter Golden Birthday' livestream in April, a copy of this 'Very Potter' themed Werewolf game was the grand prize of a live giveaway that over 3,000 people entered to win! Back then we only gave away one copy, but now we're gonna give all the art needed to make your own copy to EVERYONE who backs 'The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals' by Sunday night at midnight (so long as we reach that $78K benchmark by then)! This digital package will include artwork for 16 cards and 16 tokens, all featuring caricatures of the AVPM characters!

So if you haven't backed the 'Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals' Kickstarter yet, pledge anything at all and you'll get this extra reward (if we reach $78K by Sunday night)! If you have backed and you just wanna up your pledge to help the KS total get to $78K in time, we'd be ever so grateful! As always, thanks so much for your support! We'll have more info about KS Stretch Goals and upcoming 'Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals' livestreams by Monday, so stay tuned!!!

Initial Goal MET! Let's Livestream!
almost 8 years ago – Mon, Jun 25, 2018 at 12:55:37 PM

Hey Everybody!!!

So the initial Kickstarter goal of $60K has been surpassed! Thanks to all of you, 'The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals' is coming to LA this October and to YouTube by the end of the year!!! Now, with 20 days left in the campaign, we can focus on hitting some stretch goals (expect to hear more solid details on that soon)! The more money we raise, the better this production can be (we can improve the set, costumes, lighting, etc.; pay the performers & designers more; maybe hire a Stage Manager!). While $60K gives us the bare bones budget we need to pull this thing off, a typical StarKid show costs upwards of $120K, so let's see how far we can take this campaign!

AND let's celebrate how far we've come! Join us for the first 'Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals' Livestream on Wednesday, June 27 from 7-9pm (PST)! We'll be answering any questions you might have about the production, playing some games (Quiplash, anyone?), maybe making/taking on some challenges (for example: 'If we raise X amount of money in the next X amount of time, we'll sing X!'), and we'll even have some casting announcements. So join us for the live stream if you can make it, or watch it after the fact on YouTube. We're planning on doing a few livestreams over the course of the campaign, so keep an eye out for more announcements in the weeks to come.

Again, THANK YOU for the support thus far! Let's keep up the momentum and make this show the best it can be!!! We'll see you Wednesday!
